Last week, I thought, "Geez, I've never had Bob & Laurie (& Jason) over to my place". So, the invite went out and the three of them came for brunch. I'm so glad they did, I had a great time during their visit. Jason was his typical crazy self, which is always fun. I just bought myself a digital camera and was able to test it out on him. It made me appreciate Bob's photos a lot more - it's hard to get that boy to stay still for a second!
Stay tuned for updates on my New Years Eve.....Operation FPC Mission 2.
This one is a classic, too!
"Sweet as honey suckle on the vine, Ma!"
Operation FPC (Finding Prince Charming), 12/17/06 - Mission 1
Outfitted appropriately in jeans, new sweater, brown heels, hair worn down and make-up applied. First to arrive at location, start to canvas the area. Approached immediately by opposite sex (Good to know I still "got it"). Suspect is joined by friend and mission begins. Kate and Amanda arrive, smiles all around. Mission continues. Approximately 1 hour into mission and phone is handed to me to add my number. I enter my email address. Phone investigation begins, scroll through his pictures. Find RED FLAG! Mission abort, mission abort! Find NAKED picture of man in phone! Scroll back to address book and delete email address! Fellow comrades are notified and blow-off begins. Mission 1 ends in failure.
My work is located in the same building as The Boston Harbor Hotel (The BHH). Part of my job is booking venues and hosting company lunches (lunches that our clients attend). The BHH is a beautiful and, yes, convenient location so I tend to use it 98% of the time. I have become very close with the catering manager and the wait staff & of course, Maria, who makes my coffee every morning. I love this hotel & highly recommend it to everyone. Last week, I had a really bad cold and had to meet and greet clients for two lunches (one upstairs and one downstairs in the hotel). Ben and Rablo (the greatest servers), both had tea and soup for me at each registration desk. And most of the time they send me away with a wonderful bagged lunch. I love these guys! But not only do I love these guys, Petey does too! Bags are his favorite pass time:

The Three Question Personality Test
This past Friday, I made a last minute trip down to Florida. My buddy, Jeff, was in route of taking M/V Liberty down to Fort Lauderdale when one her engines seized and he had to pull into St. Augustine. Since he was going to be stuck there for the weekend, I flew down to keep him company. My trip down didn't go as smoothly as planned, though. My flight out of Boston was delayed and I ended up missing my connection in Atlanta. I ended up staying there Friday night at a cheap airport hotel and getting the first flight out (8:00am) into Jacksonville. Meanwhile, (remember it's off season there) I had reserved the Ritz Carlton on Amelia Island for Jeff and I. He ended up there by himself Friday night, but was kind enough to book it for Saturday night as well. We had planned on staying on the boat Saturday night in St. Augustine.
The Kicker of it all.......my brother Russell and his wife, Trista, had decided to take a mini break from Orlando and spent the weekend in ST. AUGUSTINE!!! It would have been great to run into them on the streets (or most likely in a bar). Besides that disappointment, I had a great, relaxing time.
I took a couple of pictures, but should have taken more:
The view from our room at The Ritz. You can't really tell, but that's the beach and ocean in the background. The weather was beautiful.
Jeff is usually always waiting for me to catch up. (I was busy taking a picture of the boat!)
Well, today she was at the Topsfield Fair!
My friend, Kate, and I decided since it was such a beautiful day to hop in the car and head north to the Fair. On the way we talked about all the 'fair food' we were going to eat...for her it was cotton candy & carmel apples...for me it was FRIED DOUGH & sausage! We arrived after driving through crazy 'fair traffic' and parking in someone's backyard for $10.00 and then standing in line to pay our $12.00 entrance fee. We first walked through the poultry barn...I guess I had no idea what to expect at the Topsfield Fair, but I was soon to find out. I repeatedly said, 'this is weird' through out the whole afternoon. Here is a picture of a prize winning rooster:
And his prize winning lady friend:
From there we went on to check out other animals. I really felt bad for all of them, they weren't happy looking creatures all penned up. They were giving rides on an elephant and Kate said that one of us HAD to do it....but I decided that since we weren't in Africa and only in Topsfield, MA, that I would wait until I was on a real safari. She agreed. Poor Dumbo:
Next time I'm traveling the world & in Australia, maybe I'll see a kangaroo running free:
After our ventures with the animals, we went on to feed our faces. I had FRIED DOUGH and Kate decided on french fries. Sorry no pics of that, but check out this really cool guy carving pumpkins:
We also came across prize winning vegtables. This poor little guy only got second place:
My favorite part of the day (besides the FRIED DOUGH) was the ferris wheel. It was the last thing we did before we headed home. It really was a great afternoon doing something I would not normally do and seeing some really weird things. Until my next safari, bon voyage!
What I did this weekend:
1. Friday night, I attended the Italian Greek wedding of my friend, Gina Coscia. Traditions galore!
2. Saturday I drove to Rye, NH to Wentworth by the Sea and met up with my buddies, Jeff & Dan. (These guys do not know how to have fun).
3. Jeff and Dan dragged me out on the town that evening in Portsmouth, NH & forced me to enjoy dinner & drinks with them.
4. Sunday, my arm was twisted to drive & leave my car at Pease Airforce Base & take a boat ride up to Boothbay Harbor, ME. They forced me to enjoy the boat, the sun, the water, and most of all their company.
5. Three or Four hours later we tied the boat up in Boothbay. I was then whisked away & forced into Dan's plane for a 20 minute, smooth, airplane ride back to Pease.
6. At the end of all this, and I thought I was almost home safe, they again forced me to enjoy a really nice sushi dinner in Portsmouth.
7. Now, I'm home in South Boston on Sunday night & wished I had done something this weekend.
THANKS JEFF! THANKS DAN! (Maybe next time we can have some fun!)
